Why IT Leaders Standardize on Auto Shutdown Manager

Replace unmanaged chaos with a reliable, professional infrastructure.

Zero User Disruption

Challenge: Standard power policies frustrate users by shutting down PCs during late work hours, presentations, or background tasks.

Solution: Our intelligent engine detects real activity (CPU, Network, Input), respects core business hours, and even auto-saves open documents before shutdown.

Security & Attack Surface

Challenge: Running PCs overnight are prime targets for unattended cyberattacks. Unlocked workstations pose a severe Insider Threat.

Solution: Policy-based automation safely logs off abandoned sessions and shuts down machines, eliminating the risk of compromised overnight endpoints.

Hybrid Work Enablement

Challenge: Office PCs are left on 24/7 "just in case" a remote user needs access, wasting massive energy.

Solution: Our Self-Service WOL Portal empowers users to securely wake their office PC from any browser, 24/7 from anywhere, only when needed.

Seamless Management & Hidden Value

Seamless Active Directory Integration

Set it and forget it. Auto Shutdown Manager synchronizes directly with your Active Directory (AD). It eliminates manual work by allowing you to automatically assign PCs to power management policy settings based on AD attributes, such as group membership.

Free Bonus: IT Asset Management

Stop paying for separate inventory tools. Since our agent is already running to manage power, we use it to provide detailed hardware and software inventory at no extra cost.

Future-Ready Operations

Ready for AI Agents (MCP)

Future-Proof Your Infrastructure: Auto Shutdown Manager includes an MCP Server Interface. This allows modern AI Agents and LLMs to intelligently query machine states and trigger Wake-On-LAN workflows on demand.

Distributed Administration

Delegate Without Risk: Use the File Scanner Job Editor to allow helpdesk teams to manage WOL schedules and client assignments via simple XML jobs—without giving them sensitive login access to the core server.

Proven at Enterprise Scale

Trusted by Fortune 500s, Hospitals, and Government agencies. Capable of managing 10,000+ endpoints and 100+ subnets in a single deployment, with near-zero downtime for critical workflows.

Frequently Asked Questions by IT Leaders

Will this interrupt users working late or running critical tasks?
Absolutely not. Auto Shutdown Manager employs advanced idle-state analytics (CPU load, network I/O, active processes, application states, and user interaction) to guarantee that only genuinely idle endpoints are powered down. Open documents are automatically saved, and shutdowns can be deferred by users with the appropriate permissions.
Does this conflict with our SCCM / MCM nightly patching schedules?
No, it integrates seamlessly. The MCM/SCCM Plugin automatically reads your software deployment and update plans from your Site Server. It then dynamiclly schedules the necessary Wake-On-LAN timers within Auto Shutdown Manager to ensure target PCs are powered on and ready exactly when your maintenance window begins.
Do we need new hardware or router reconfiguration for Wake-On-LAN?
No. You can use our WOL Proxies technology. Any Windows endpoint, server, or a low-cost Raspberry Pi can serve as a relay within remote subnets. Relays enable secure reachability across IP segments, VLANs, and Internet-connected locations without requiring router changes or the security risks associated with directed broadcasts.
Is the Wake-On-LAN functionality secure?
Yes. Unlike broad network broadcasts, our solution uses directed, authenticated, and encrypted communication between the central server and the local agents or proxies. Furthermore, the WOL Portal integrates with Active Directory to ensure only authorized users can wake their own specific assigned devices.
How can I prove the savings to my Management?
The system includes a Reporting Engine. You can generate detailed reports on uptime, downtime, energy consumption (kWh), and CO2 footprint.
Does this work with "Modern Standby" (S0) laptops where WOL usually fails?
Yes. This is a key differentiator. Standard WOL frequently fails on modern devices that no longer support S3 sleep. Auto Shutdown Manager offers a dedicated Modern Standby Wake Driver as an add-on download to ensure reliable wake timers and power-state transitions on Windows 10/11 devices using S0 Low Power Idle. It also prevents laptops from draining their batteries or overheating while stored in bags by automatically transitioning devices from Modern Standby to hibernation after a configurable timeout—independently adjustable for both AC and DC power states—while fully preserving user sessions.
What happens to the clients if the Central Server goes offline?
Your operations remain safe. The client agents utilize Cached Policies. Once a policy is received, the client operates autonomously. If the server or network connection is lost, PCs will still wake when a local wake timer is used, save open documents, and shut down according to the last known schedule. Wake-on-LAN, however, will not function if the server or network is unavailable.

Free up your schedule to focus on the high-impact projects that advance your institution.

Classroom Readiness

No more waiting for boot-ups. Automatically wake PC Labs 15 minutes before the first class. Ensure machines are running when students sit down, and powered off the moment the library closes.

Campus-Wide Reach

VLANs? Subnets? No problem. Our intelligent WOL Proxies and Auto WOL Proxy Generator ensure "Magic Packets" reliably reach every corner of your network, even across 40+ campuses.

Prevent Accidental Shutdowns

Instead of relying on rigid scripts, our intelligent idle detection ensures that PCs remain on whenever students or staff are still working. If users forget to log off, the system automatically saves all open documents so no work is lost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a teacher shut down or reboot the class PCs in a room?
Yes. PCs can be organized by Rooms or Labs. You can grant teachers limited permissions (optionally password-protected) to wake, reboot, or shut down all PCs in their specific room via a command-line shortcut, without giving them full admin access.
Can HARD shutdowns be enforced after a specific time?
Yes. You can define strict rules for specific areas (like a Library). For example, you can force a shutdown at 8:00 PM Mon-Thu and 4:00 PM on Fridays, ensuring machines are off regardless of user activity, while keeping staff PCs on flexible schedules.
What if we have a "Visitors Day" and need PCs to stay on all evening?
No problem. You can enable “Maintenance Mode” on the server to keep all PCs powered on for the entire event, temporarily overriding standard shutdown rules until the mode is turned off.
How does this handle Windows Updates and Patching?
This solves the "Patch Night" conflict. Our system can automatically wake PCs (or keep them awake) specifically for your maintenance windows (e.g., SCCM, Intune, or WSUS schedules), and then shut them down after patching is complete.
We have a K-12 flat license. Can we add more PCs later?
Yes, at no cost. The K-12 Flat-Rate license covers the entire school building, regardless of the device count. If you add a new lab or 50 more laptops, simply contact our sales team, and we will provide an updated license file for free.
How does the order process work for Schools?
We accept Purchase Orders (POs) and offer tax-exempt invoicing where applicable. Please see our detailed Public Sector Licensing page for step-by-step instructions.
